Prestigious international recognition for the two artists: they will be guests of the Pushkinskaya Art Residency which is part of the “Pushkinskaya 10” independent art center http://p-10.ru/en/about/. The painters will remain guests in the SPAR (St.Petersburg Art Residency) from May 14th to June 8th; at the end of the stay the final exhibition, which opens on 28th of May. The exhibition will have the title “The Giants and the child” and will be set up with both paintings and a large live installation. The title of the international project is “Violate Innocence”, a dramatic subject of very topical relevance, brought in the works, in a discreet way, to face the delicate problems of childhood.

A strong social denunciation on the issues of abuse and loss of innocence. Childhood brings with it a world full of emotions that in its works generates strong contrasts, between geometric backgrounds and vital figures. The two will bring works already produced in Italy, but they will work in St. Petersburg synergistically, with structured paintings by Tomassetti that will then pass into the hands of Landolfi (Pandu), for a very long series of crossed passages.

Paintings will be constructed and Pandu will destroy them, fragmenting the color in his style. In the next phase, Tomassetti will add other shapes and colors that will further transform the subject. Pandu will finish the work with a final intervention. This process is the metaphor of the transformation of a human being who loses his innocence for a natural process of growth or for violent acts that force him to become an adult.

Art evokes, denounces and sublimates all human processes. The red thread of the event is the threat that hangs over the whole world of childhood. The theme has strong moral value, but in its artistic development it is transformed into formal value to celebrate the specificity of childhood and its fragility. Childhood is the structural knot of humanity: cultural continuity. Everything that happens in a child’s life is reflected in the development of the new generations. The relationship between adult and child, the motor subject of the work, is the guideline of the exhibition “The Giants and the Child”. The live performance will consist of a large figure (sculpture) of a sitting child who looks at just sketched figures of men. The human figures hint at a movement, turning their backs on the child, generating a strong contrast. The giants are small and the child is giant. The giants will be defined as such also with a volume contrast given by the presence of small toys, cars, tanks, animals.

The narrowness of the human gaze, the lack of control, of ethical rigor contrasting with the potential breadth of a childish mind. The prestigious Russian invitation will highlight the stylistic and aesthetic differences of the two artists and the final installation will be a fusion of creative skills that will culminate in the lively Night of the St. Petersburg Museums.
